After making the switch to the potent Team PSL Karting before the final round of the Florida Winter Tour, rising karting star Parker Chase was able to take the Saturday victory in the Rotax Mini Max class this past weekend at the Dallas Karting Complex (DKC). Taking on the first rounds of the Texas Pro Kart Challenge in Caddo Mills, Texas, Chase put his PSL Karting/CRG chassis in place for the win and topped the podium during Saturday’s events making the “move of the weekend.” Chase also earned a third place podium result on Sunday to complete a stellar weekend of racing.

Saturday’s round one action saw the New Braunfels, Texas resident clock fifth quick in qualifying to start off his Texas Pro Kart Challenge effort. Two heat races would then ensue, with Chase scoring second and fourth place finishes in the wheel-to-wheel action. Making smart decisions in the day’s main event, Chase emerged victorious with his 0.701 second win in his bid to claim a ticket to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) later this year. Awarded the “move of the weekend” for his calculated pass in the last corner of the last lap, Chase waited until the ideal time as he drove from third to first to score the victory and earn max points in his championship chase. Chase now looks to continue to challenge for race wins and podiums in the competitive Rotax Mini Max category as he has his sights set on competing in the invitation only event on the world stage later this year at the RMCGF.

Back on track Sunday, Chase would put his PSL/CRG #199 entry on the podium once again, this time with a third place podium result for the day’s main event. Also of note, Chase and his friends contested the Friday night Team Endurance Race and emerged victorious during the opening festivities of the weekend.

Parker Chase would like to thank every one at PSL Karting, Andrew Campbell and Jared Beyer for an excellent start to the Texas Pro Kart Challenge series. Additionally, Chase would like to thank his Mom and Dad, and Addison and Terre for their support. The entire Chase Racing Team would like to extend their personal appreciation to the DKC Team and particularly Kevin Adds and Mike Jones.

Chase will next be on track for the third and fourth rounds of the Texas Pro Kart Challenge, May 31-June 2 at Gulf Coast Kartway in Katy, Texas.

Traveling to the Ocala Gran Prix facility in North Central Florida, Parker Chase would enter the final rounds of the Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour (FWT) aboard a new product. Making the switch to the CRG chassis, the up-and-coming driver would see action in the talent-laden Rotax Mini Max field for rounds five and six of the series and would look to close his winter karting campaign on a high note.

“The CRG chassis is very fast,” explained Chase post race. “It took a little bit to get used to but we received a ton of help from PSL Karting and they really helped us improve. I can’t wait to get on track in Texas with it.”

Saturday would see Chase begin his day from inside row thirteen in the 25th starting position before advancing forward to 18th in the prefinal. Looking to score a top fifteen result, the Texan would encounter a technical malfunction that would not allow him to take the green flag in the main event. Not satisfied with the inability to compete, Chase would return to the track Sunday determined and looking for redemption.

Back to the OGP facility for the final event day of the Florida Winter Tour, Chase would qualify his new ride in the 22nd position and quickly move forward in the prefinal to claim a 12th place finish. Aiming for a top-ten finish in the day’s main event, Chase would need to settle for a 13th place result after getting shuffled out of position on the opening few laps but having a spirited battle with drivers in the middle of the field.

Supporting both the CRG and OTK product lines, Parker Chase and his team will now set their sights on the Texas ProKart Challenge. Gearing up for a strong performance and solid results, Chase’s goal is to attain a ticket to compete in the Rotax Mini Max division at the 2013 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals later this year set to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Not limiting himself to just Rotax competition, Chase will also be behind the wheel of an S5 six-speed gearbox machine as he hones his skills and increases his track time.

Parker will not be the only Chase driver to see action in Texas as older sister Addison will also be behind the wheel. Competing in the TaG Junior ranks, this will be Addison’s first event outside of her local club racing and small regional events.

Parker Chase would like to thank his tuner Noel Leon, Team Manager Jared Beyer as well as PSL Karting for all of there help and support while in Ocala.

Coming off a strong performance at the second stop of the 2013 Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour (FWT), Texas-based pilot Parker Chase/Chase Racing will take on the finale rounds with a new chassis brand with a new team. Hoping the switch will match results with Chase’s performance and positive attitude, the 12-year-old will be gunning for podium finishes at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida this coming weekend.

Joining forces with the potent Team PSL Karting aboard a championship-caliber CRG chassis, Chase Racing will make the switch to the karting powerhouse team for the final two rounds of the FWT Rotax schedule. With PSL’s storied history and strong Rotax Mini Max program, Chase’s new package may be just what he needs to propel to the top of the time sheets.

In his first FWT Rotax campaign, Chase has shown to be an up-and-coming force in the ultra-competitive and challenging Rotax Mini Max category. Though results have not shown his full potential, Chase continues to improve week in and week out, and always maintains a positive attitude. Able to battle his way through the pack in Homestead for rounds three and four after qualifying down the running order, Chase has the technical know-how and racing savvy to put his new PSL/CRG entry on top in Ocala.

Chase will take on the 0.6-mile Ocala facility this week for unofficial practice, leading up to Friday’s double qualifying sessions. Saturday and Sunday will see the young gun take in two days of warm-up, prefinal and final action as he wraps up his 2013 FWT campaign. Live video and audio, as well as timing and scoring will be available via the FWT Live! page: http://floridawintertour.com/fwtlive/2013

New Braunfels, Texas – March 11, 2013 – In only his second year running the prestigious Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour (FWT), and first in the highly competitive Rotax ranks, 12-year-old Parker Chase continues to show improvement in the Rotax Mini Max category. Recently taking on 37 international drivers at the second stop of the Tour, the #199 Tony Kart entry ended his weekend on a positive note and will now look to the FWT finale in Ocala.

Only racing since April 2011, Chase has been able to prove himself in the ultra-competitive Mini Max class during 2013 FWT action. Taking to the Homestead Karting Complex, located on the grounds of the Homestead-Miami Speedway in late February, Chase would compete in the grueling three-day schedule for rounds three and four.

On track Friday for two qualifying sessions, which set grids for Saturday and Sunday’s prefinal races, Chase got caught up in traffic during both timed sessions. Unable to get the necessary draft or a clear lap at the 7/10-mile permanent sprint circuit, Chase would be forced to start his wheel-to-wheel action deep in the pack, placing 24th for Saturday and 28th for Sunday.

Able to show his true speed and talent once racing action got underway, Chase encountered troubles due to his bad qualifying position in Saturday’s prefinal. Falling back to the tail of the field, Chase powered back in the day’s final, going from 32nd all the way to finish a strong 17th. Sunday’s prefinal saw the rising talent pass ten karts to finish in 18th before falling back to 21st in the final. Despite the overall results, Chase continues to stay positive and is looking toward the final rounds in Ocala in just a few weeks.

“Overall it ended up being a very good weekend,” explained Parker. “We learned a lot and are looking forward to finishing the Florida Winter Tour in Ocala.”

Chase will hit the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida March 22-24 for rounds five and six. Parker would like to thank his engine builders AM Engines and Ogden Racing Engines, his mechanic Noel de Leon, his sponsors Enertech Resources, Chase Racing and CH Motorsports, his teammates Max Hewitt and Dominic Tesoro, as well as his Dad, Mom and sister for all their support.

11-year old overcoming injury, looking for improved results to close out the year

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS (August 27, 2012) – Texas karter Parker Chase has battled strong thus far in the 2012 season. Competing in just his second year in karting, Chase is continuing to learn and adapt to the many different tracks he has visited on the year. The results have been mixed with great highs and some tough lows; however the 11-year old is focused on improving each and every time he straps on the helmet.

Chase made his first start at a major karting event back in January when he visited the Palm Beach International Raceway for the opening weekends of the Florida Winter Tour. Competing in the TaG Cadet division, Chase batted strong against a tough field. The following weekend in Mini Max, he finished 10th and seventh in the B-Main events, gaining experience racing against nationally ranked drivers. The next month was a trip to the Homestead Karting course in southern Florida. Competing at another unknown track, Parker matched his previous results with top-10 runs in the B-Main events. April brought on the start of the Southeast Karting Challenge, a new regional program opening up at the new NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. Visiting yet another unknown course, Chase put in his best performance despite a struggle with engine issues. He would fight his way to finish the weekend in the sixth position.

The month of May brought about new changes as Parker made the switch to the successful Tony Kart chassis brand for the opening round of the Texas ProKart Challenge. In only his second-ever weekend competing in the TaG Cadet division, Chase adapted well to both the new kart and the engine package as he recorded his first regional victory of the season in addition to a runner-up finish. Parker fought strong during the Saturday round of action, working his way into the lead and scoring the inaugural Texas PKC victory for the class. Battling at the front the following day, Chase came across the line in second. Set to battle for the series championship, Chase visited the very fast GrandSport Speedway in Hitchcock, Texas for rounds three and four of the program. Unfortunately, a major wreck in practice led to Chase suffering a shattered ankle. The incident put him on the sidelines.

Parker made his return back to the seat for the Texas ProKart Challenge finale at the North Texas Karters facility just four weeks later, still walking with the assistance of crutches and some pedal adjustments. The return brought on two top-five finishes in the TaG Cadet division. Just a few weeks later, he made his Superkarts! USA Pro Tour debut competing at the SKUSA SummerNationals at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. Just his third national-level event in his short career, Parker drove well to end up 10th in both main events at what he called the most fun track he’s been to yet.

“Parker is doing a phenomenal job in just his second full season in karting,” stated his father Eric Chase. “He’s kept a positive attitude throughout the many hurdles we’ve faced this year. It was difficult that he suffered the ankle injury just after earning his first big victory, and it’s slowed the momentum. He bounced back great returning to the seat and facing another strong field at the SKUSA SummerNationals. His ankle has heeled well and he will be at 100% for the next big race.”

Chase will keep in racing shape in the coming months with a club races at a number of facilities – his home track of Hill Country Kart Club in New Braunfels, the Gulf Coast Karters circuit, and possible trips to Florida in the coming months. Those races will lead up to the Pan American Challenge Championship event, taking place on The Track at Centennial facility in Englewood, Colorado on September 20-23, competing in the Mini Max category and the SKUSA SuperNationals XVI in Las Vegas on November 14-18 aboard his TaG Cadet entry. Looking ahead to 2013, Parker is already preparing for a full campaign of the Florida Winter Tour. For more on Parker Chase and his 2012 season, be sure to visit www.chaseracing.com

11-year old kicks off new series with win and runner-up finish at Gulf Coast Kartways

KATY, TEXAS (May 11, 2012) – Starting out a championship series with a victory is the best way to accomplish the task of earning the year-end title. For Parker Chase, the Texas ProKart Challenge kicked off in stellar fashion as the 11-year old began his bid for the series title in the competitive TaG Cadet division with a victory and runner-up finish in the opening two rounds at the Gulf Coast Kartways in Katy, Texas. The New Braunfels, Texas driver made just his second ever start with a Vortex Mini Rok engine aboard his brand new Tony Kart chassis, switching from another brand.

The first round of the weekend took place Saturday around the 7/10-mile course as Parker qualified second to begin the action. His best lap of 45.098 seconds was just a few tenths off the fast lap. From outside row one, Chase was the early leader in the first of two 10-lap heat races. In the late stages, he relinquished the spot and finished second. The second heat race was a battle to the finish line with four drivers crossing the line in under one second. Parker came across the stripe in the third spot to sit inside row two for the main event. Quick early, Chase was able to advance up into the lead by the completion of lap three. From there, he led the remaining circuits in the 16-lap event to score the inaugural Texas ProKart Challenge TaG Cadet victory by just under five-tenths of a second.

Round two began in similar fashion for Parker as he laid down a similar lap time (45.030) to end up third overall in the order. A great battle for the win in heat one came down to a photo finish between him and two other drivers. Chase came up just short, about 41-thousandths at the line and was classified third in what was the closest finish in the weekend. Heat two did not start as planned with Parker getting shuffled back to the tail of the field. After 10 laps, he was able to work up to fourth and record the fast lap of the race. Just as he did Saturday, Chase was on the move early and into the lead by lap three. He would lead the field until the white flag was displayed when the final lap battle began. On the final lap, Parker came up just short in securing the top spot, settling for the runner-up position and earning his second straight podium finish.

Parker ran double duty on the weekend, piloting his Rotax Mini Max machine against another stout field. He would struggle all weekend with the engine tuning and thus his speed was hampered each session on-track. He managed to record a top-five finish on Saturday but continuing engine issues forced him to retire early on Sunday.

Eric Chase, Parker’s father, was proud of the performance his son recorded on the weekend, “I am really excited for Parker to score his first win in the series. The Tony Kart chassis was simply tuned perfectly. Parker and I want to express our appreciation to Jared Beyer and Tony Tesoro with Southern Karting Specialist along with Mike Mantel. We also want to thank Stuart Robinson for lending a helpful hand this weekend.”

Up next on the Parker Chase schedule will be the second event of the Southeast Karting Challenge, set for the MSR Houston kart circuit in Angleton, Texas on May 19-20. Chase will look to continue his podium streak in TaG Cadet and upgrade his performance in Mini Max at the next Texas ProKart Challenge event on June 2-3 at the fast Grandsport Speedway in Hitchcock, TX – southeast of Houston.

The Southern Karting Specialists operation began the 2012 season with the opening rounds of the Florida Winter Tour at the Palm Beach International Raceway. The double-weekend event put a total of six drivers on track for the exclusive Florida Arrow chassis dealer. The opening weekend saw the Touch and Go engine format with the Rotax Max Challenge taking place the second weekend. With a young squad of drivers under the age of 15, the pilots took on challenging fields and came away from the weekend with solid experiences.“I’m happy with what our team achieved this month in Palm Beach,” stated Southern Karting Specialists principle Tony Tesoro. “Each and every time the squad hit the track, our drivers and mechanics learned from changes made to the kart as well as what changes on how to attack the track behind the wheel. While we did not make the podium either weekend, our squad gave 110%.”Four drivers, all from Texas, filled out the SKS/Team Arrow Cadet roster for both weekends; Nicholas Brueckner, Parker Chase, Trenton Estep, and Ryan Patrick Lewis. Dominic Tesoro ran TaG Junior and Rotax Junior with AJ Myers joining him for the Rotax weekend. Chase and Estep were featured in the Florida Winter Tour ‘Formula Kart’ Sunday report, as they were making their FWT debut on the weekend (http://www.floridawintertour.com/news/60-2012/308-fwt-formula-kart-palm-beach-sunday-review.html).Estep led the way for the TaG Cadet contingent on the opening day, running inside the top-10. In the final, Estep was involved in an incident on the first lap and was sidelined for the remainder of the race. The others tried to overcome troubles throughout the day with Lewis posting the best result of 22nd. The following day was favorable with Estep once again near the front, placing second in the Prefinal. After a heated battle, including a restart mid-way through the race, Trenton finished seventh after 15 laps to record his best finish in the series. Brueckner continued to improve, placing 16th with Chase 26th and Lewis a DNF.
The following weekend in the Rotax competition, Brueckner was the lone driver in Micro Max. Qualifying eighth for round one action, Nicholas held his position through the Prefinal. Trouble prior to the green flag of the main event put Brueckner at the tail of the field. Knifing his way forward, he recorded an impressive 15th place performance. Matching the same qualifying effort for round two, Brueckner improved his main event starting position as he advanced to third in the Prefinal. Battling within the lead group for much of the feature, last lap contact dropped Nicholas down the order to 15th, but marked the #474 as a contender next month.

The other three Cadet drivers battled in the competitive Mini Max division that hosted 60 drivers from around the world. Unfortunately, none were able to qualify or race their way into the A main. In the B main, Estep shined with a victory in round one and a sixth place in round two. Chase performed well, gaining valuable racing experience on the big stage with a 10th and seventh place. Lewis was unlucky once again, recording two DNFs.

Tesoro was a contender both weekends with mix final results. Running TaG Junior the first weekend, Dominic was in the top-10 until contact caused the chain to break, putting him off in the main event. Round two saw Tesoro improve to sixth throughout the day until lap two of the feature when again contact forced the chain to break to end his weekend. Bouncing back the next weekend in Rotax Junior, Tesoro was 11th out of 62 in qualifying for the opening round, improving to seventh in the Prefinal. Running eighth the entire main event, the last lap brought on tough racing where an opponent did not give him any room and the two made contact. The result put Dominic down to the 29th position. Matching the results the following day, the end result was his finish was his best to date for the series as he ended up seventh at the checkered flag.

Myers had a tough start to the 2012 season, battling back from a tough qualifying run for round one. Advancing inside the top-10 in the main event, AJ was shuffled off track and down the order halfway through the race, managing to pull off a 17th place finish. Round two began with Myers back at the front with a ninth in qualifying, holding it through to the main until he was shuffled back to 15th. Pushing forward, AJ ended up 10th in the final order.

Tesoro continued, “The results may have not gone the way we had hoped, but that doesn’t take away from the things we learned in Palm Beach. Two of our Cadet drivers were making their Florida Winter Tour debut, and the other two are still adjusting to the level of competition here compared to their club action, so I know each one of them will improve on the results side next month. AJ and Dominic had to overcome some hurdles, and both recorded top-10 finishes. I feel confident they will challenge for podium spots in Homestead.”

Next up will be the second round of the Florida Winter Tour, at the Homestead Karting facility in Homestead, FL, with the TaG categories racing on February 10-12 and the Rotax Max Challenge event on February 17-19.
